For the opening of the shop at Gipsstraße 4 in 10119 Berlin-Mitte, we cordially invite you to the opening ceremony on Sunday, August 4th and Saturday, August 10th, 2024. Enjoy canapés with wine, sparkling wine or water and view art, paper antiques and rarities on a small, cozy tour. Your support means a lot to us and we are very happy to introduce you to the art and graphic antiquarian bookshop in the historic district of “Spandauer Vorstadt”.

My collections of old city views, maps, architectural, botanical and other decorative graphics, paired with modern art and lithographs, among others by Chagall, Braque, Miró, Picasso and Zille, will be synchronized here on my homepage by the end of the year. Please note that only a few special graphics are still listed on my old homepage www.antiquariat-am-gendarmenmarkt.com. All engravings, graphics and contemporary works of art are of course, as usual, originals.

A brief history of the art and graphic antiquarian bookshop:

In the late 1940s, my grandfather Anton Düssel held his first small book and graphic auction in Düsseldorf. Later, until the early 1980s, he had his antiquarian bookshop in Cologne. My father Karl Düssel started in the antiquarian bookshop business in Berlin in the early 1980s and over time built up a good reputation from a flea market dealer and “Kudamm antiquarian” to his renowned antiquarian bookshop at the Gendarmenmarkt. At that time, the company name was “Stiche Düssel am Gendarmenmarkt”. The graphic arts antiquarian bookshop at Gendarmenmarkt, which had a long tradition of being run jointly after the death of Karl Düssel, no longer exists as a joint shop between the three brothers. After 16 years of being a joint heir, it was time to start something of our own and rebuild. This is now the art and graphic arts antiquarian bookshop at Gipsstrasse 4.
